Explore new horizons
Larry Suggs, Executive DirectorLance Eaglestaff, Cultural Director With Your Support...JSizzles Foundation launched their first fully funded, Native majority team led by Native coaches in our 2024 spring-summer season. The JSizzles Adidas Gold 16U team competed in the Adidas Gold 3SSBCircuit and topped off their season run as the platinum division champions at the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament. We asked the boys to reflect on their season and share their favorite parts with you. On the court reflections included: "playing ball around the states," "playing against talent," and "the comp." Off the court reflections included "getting to travel ," " trying new foods seeing places I never thought I'd see." And all of them spoke about their teammates: "loved traveling with the fellas," "getting to hoop with these guys," and "showing our team's skills on big stages so they know our names and our Tribes." With Your Support….JSizzles Foundation distributed funds to support their cultural commitments. This team prioritizes their athletic pursuits, but not at the expense of their commitments as young, Native men. They have responsibilities within their way of life and kinship structures and our Foundation loves this about them; we also love that without any funding support they would meet these commitments. We were able to provide cost assistance with their annual trek to (Black Elks Peak) Hinhan Kaga for the Wakinyan Aku lyekiya Pi where the boys hiked and welcomed back the thundersWe were able to join them at the (Bone Creek Sundance) Wakpala Huhu Winyanyang Waci where we supported and prayed as the boys fulfilled their commitments. We were also able to spend time with their families and friends. We funded this travel out of pocket to ensure all your support went directly to our players.
